It’s been a while since my last post, for which I apologize. In a nutshell, I’ve been busy living the adventure! The drive out here brought us through so many different landscapes and cultures – the foothills of Pennsylvania; the Appalachian Mountains of West Virginia; the farmlands of Missouri and Kansas; the still-recovering town of my birth, Joplin, MO; the desolate expanse of northern Texas; the enchanting desert mountains of New Mexico; then finally to our destination in Arizona – a lovely suburb of Phoenix where we have quickly accustomed ourselves to the summer-like temperatures (summer-like, at least, to our bones) and to the immense beauty of the surrounding desert. How strange to be able to live – and live comfortably – in such an arid and unforgiving landscape. Yet here we are, and we’ve already started to make our mark!
Last night, we played at The Blooze in Phoenix for the Sunday night blues jam, where we immediately made new friends and showed the Arizonans how the New Englanders play the 1-4-5! We’ve been invited tonight to play at The Rhythm Room in Phoenix, starting at 8:00-ish and we can’t wait!
Tomorrow (Tuesdsay) night, I’m planning on bringing my original material (and perhaps some choice covers) to Fair Trade Cafe in Phoenix for their open mic starting at 7:30 p.m.
One thing leads to another and yet another… Shawn and I are so excited to be here and to be bringing what we do to new folks and new places, and even more excited to see how far that ripple that we make in the waters here will reach.
