Wow, what an awesome tour we had!  The Charlie Brown Christmas Tour was so fulfilling, start to finish.  Five well received and well attended shows (standing room only in Cambridge!) and so many new friends and fans.  The smiling faces and tapping toes were contagious everywhere we went!  This music, this legacy of Vince Guaraldi’s, lives on and we were so honored to share this with audiences all over New England.  We’re already talking about expanding the tour for next year into even more places.  Wooo!

Here’s a YouTube playlist that contains some footage from this year’s tour (and last year’s as well):

No time to rest on my laurels!  There’s more happening in my musical world as the year comes to a close.  Here’s a look:

Thursday, December 20th: The Heather Pierson Quartet will be rockin’ McGrath’s Tavern in North Conway, NH starting at 9 p.m. til the wee hours.

Friday, December 21st:  I’ll be at “home base” at White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, 6 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, December 22nd:  I’m really excited to be part of the 16th Annual Solstice Celebration at the First Universalist Church of Auburn, ME!  I’ll be sharing the stage with Circle Voice Singers (I haven’t sung with them in years!), Leah Wolfsong and a host of other stellar talents!  $10 at the door; $8 students/seniors; under 12 free.  6 p.m. doors, 7 p.m. start.  All proceeds to benefit the Good Shepherd Food Bank.  Don’t miss this very special evening of music for a wonderful cause!

I’m also busy during Christmas week, which will include several appearances at the lovely Mount Washington Hotel, an apres ski at Cranmore, plus more!  Plans are also shaping up for a winter tour out west again!  So far, Shawn and I have confirmed dates in Chicago, Denver, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Fort Lauderdale, and more in the works!  Details available at www.heatherpierson.com.

As the holidays approach and I finally have a little time to reflect, I realize once again how fortunate I am to be able to make a living creating music with people that I love and to share that music and that love with all of you!  This is living!  From the bottom of my heart, I thank each and every one of you for helping me make this dream come true.

Much love,
Heather

May is off to a gray start here in New England weather-wise — but that beautiful color of green that is painting the landscape and the tips of all the trees is so incredible!  It’s the same color that has overtaken the kitchen counter here at the house — so many seedlings of tomatoes, cukes, leeks, basil, parsley, dill, lettuce and chard waiting to be planted outside in just a few weeks.  What an amazing time of year!

And busy, too!  Here’s what’s happening in the next couple of weeks:

Saturday, May 5th

Tonight! My dear friend of many, many years, singer/songwriter Nate Towne, will be releasing his second CD, Empty Tables and Chairs, at a very special show at Tucker’s Music Pub in Norway, ME! I’m psyched to be joining him along with some other awesome musicians (including the amazing Rusty Wiltjer on his beautiful handmade drums) as part of the celebration. 8 p.m. start — and no cover charge!

Wednesday, May 9th

I’ll be the guest host and feature at Conway Cafe’s Songwriters Showcase!  Every Wednesday, Conway Cafe, located in the heart of the village of Conway, NH, opens its doors and its stage to songwriters of all stripes to come share their talents.  6 to 8 p.m.  Come early for the buffet, and stay for the great offerings from the wide variety of players who come out to support this great event every week!

Thursday, May 10th

Shawn and I return to Portland, ME to perform at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial St.  Our first outing there was very well received and we’re excited to return!  7 to 10 p.m.

Friday, May 11th

I’ll be at “home base” – playing solo in the Ledges Dining Room of the White Mountain Hotel in North Coanway, NH from 6 to 10 p.m.

Wednesday, May 16th

The Heather Pierson Quartet (with Shawn Nadeau on bass, Matty Bowman on drums and Joe Aliperti on sax) will hit Delaney’s in North Conway, NH from 9 p.m. to midnight.  Bring your dancing shoes!

Thursday, May 17th

I’ll be travelling downstate with The Jeremy Dean Band to play at Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester, NH from 9 p.m. til the wee hours.  Blues, blues and more blues is what we’ll have on tap!

That’s it for now.  I’ll send an update down the road about the rest of my May calendar.  Be sure to connect with me on Twitter (@HeatherPierson) and Facebook (HeatherPiersonMusic) to get the inside, day to day scoop on what’s happening in my world.

Oh, and check this out — it’s the first song from my and Shawn’s recent appearance on Great Falls TV in Auburn, ME!  Enjoy – and thanks much for your love and support!

Time for a short break and then right back at it!

The dog days of summer are upon us here in the Northeast – cold nights and warm, muggy days, summer’s last gasp before the equinox and the return of nights that are longer than days.  It’s an inspiring time – my lyric and poetry notebooks have been open a lot recently and melodies are swimming in my brain.  You know me – there’s always something new cooking!  🙂

This week is a bit quieter for once.  After such a busy summer, it’s about time I stopped and took a breath, eh?  There are still some fun things in store for the weekend, so here’s the scoop:

Thursday, September 15th

The plan at this point is to attend open mic at the 302 in Fryeburg – hosted by the fabulous Ed and Linda Cooper – with my very talented friend Davy Sturtevant.  The festivities get started around 8:30 p.m.

Friday, September 16th

I’ll be playing solo in the dining room of the White Mountain Hotel in North Conway from 6 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, September 17th

Kristen Short, Rusty Wiltjer and I will perform live in a benefit concert at 8 p.m. for the Dempsey Challenge at Gritty McDuff‘s in Auburn, ME. There will be a big mixture of music, from folk rock originals, as well as blues, jazz, rock and a little country.  Little something for just about everyone.  There will be raffles, give-a-ways and more!  This will be a night to remember and help a fantastic local charity! From the Gritty’s newsletter: “Songwriter Kristen Short has been writing, performing and producing heartfelt, multi-genre original music for the past 20 years. Although diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2010 and having undergone aggressive treatment in the ten months following, Kristen has continued to perform music, singing the National Anthem for The Dempsey Challenge in October 2010 and for the Portland Sea Dogs for their Mother’s Day/Breast Cancer Awareness game in May 2011. Currently in remission and journeying to wellness, Kristen Short is back to writing and performing her original music.”  I’m so proud of my friend Kristen and psyched to be a part of what promises to be a really great night!

Next week is a bit busier but I’ll fill you in on that in a few days.  Get out there and enjoy yourselves and thanks as always for your love, enthusiasm and support!
