First, I’d like to thank everyone for your overwhelmingly positive feedback and comments about my video press kit!  (Didn’t see it yet?  You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2kxn0WHRug)  This is version 1.0 and there will be a version 2.0 once the new CD is finished.   If anyone you know is interested in hosting me in a house concert setting, be sure to share this video with them – and thanks!  (Or perhaps you are interested yourself!  If so, please get in touch!)

Tis the season for planning gardens, cleaning garages and storage rooms, watching snow melt, and trying not to track mud through the house.  Spring Cleaning!   To celebrate, I’m having a five dollar sale on back catalog CDs!   (Yes, CDs for five bucks!  What a deal!)  This offer is good only on my website and will end May 1st.  Here’s the direct link to the sale:

Glen, Heather Pierson, Heather Pierson Quartet, music, New Hampshire, Red Parka Pub

Hello and Happy Spring!

CD #7 is slowly but surely coming together!  Thanks everyone for your kind and encouraging words about my newest creations in the studio.  (If you haven’t already and would still like that free sample that I offered in my last post, just reply to this message and type “YES PLEASE!” in the subject line!)

The Heather Pierson Quartet is celebrating one year of making music together at a very special show at The Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH on Friday, March 22nd!  9 p.m. start.  We’re hoping to see the dance floor full of fellow funk-o-philes!  It’s hard to believe it’s already been one whole year since sax man Joe Aliperti sat in with the HP Trio and we all looked at each other and said, “This needs to happen more often…”

My video press kit is finally completed!  I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2kxn0WHRug

I’ve tried to represent just about everything that I do musically in one little video.  It’s meant to be informative as well as entertaining and I will be using it as a tool to book house concerts and other intimate venues.  Let me know what you think!  I hope you’ll consider sharing it with family and friends, too – every little bit helps.   And thanks! 🙂

That’s all for now.  Please be sure to check the Schedule page of heatherpierson.com for updates on performances.   Hope you are well and happy and do keep in touch!

Much love,
Heather

It’s been a very rewarding time here lately – last Thursday’s CD release show for “The Open Road” at Pitman’s Freight Room was a great success.  Many thanks to the sweet folks who came out to listen so intently!

I was also very pleased at the turnout for the Harvest Concert on Sunday afternoon.  There were musical offerings from myself, the Norway UU Choir, Davy Sturtevant, Nate Towne and the newly formed hospice choir “Sing Now”.  It was a benefit for the Oxford Hills Food Pantry and, thanks to the kindness of everyone in attendance, we collected lots of food and cash donations for that worthy organization to help them through the tough holiday season.    A great afternoon for a great cause!

Shawn and I have been working hard in the studio on my new acoustic tracks for CD #7 (!!!) which I’m hoping to release in the summer of 2013.  Sneak previews are now available (along with a few other goodies) on the Listen/Buy section of my website: www.heatherpierson.com.

Tickets are now on sale for the Charlie Brown Christmas shows!  Visit my website for dates, times, locations and to purchase tickets.

Here’s what’s happening the rest of this month:

Tuesday, November 20th:  I had the pleasure of meeting Louisa Wise at NERFA last weekend.  Here for 6 months from her home in Australia, she is touring the States with her music, which is absolutely beautiful and full of grace and charm!  She plays guitar, dulcimer (that she built herself), fiddle and more!   She’ll be performing at Pitman’s Freight Room in Laconia, NH at 8 p.m.  If you’re in the area, please consider attending this concert.  You’re in for a treat!

Thursday, November 22nd:  Happy Thanksgiving!  As has become my yearly tradition, I’ll be playing solo at The White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, NH starting at 11:30 a.m.

Friday & Saturday, November 23rd & 24th:  I’ll be rocking The Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH with The Dean Machine!   This room — and this band — are so much freaking fun!!  9 p.m. til the wee hours.

Wednesday, November 28th:  The Heather Pierson Quartet will be at Delaney’s in North Conway from 9 p.m. til midnight.   Blues/funk/jazz/whatnot.  Maybe a Charlie Brown preview?  MAYBE.  🙂

Friday, November 30th:  Shawn and I will be performing at The Shannon Door Pub in Jackson, NH starting at 8 p.m.  A warm and cozy room and great pizzas, too!

That’s it for now!  Don’t forget to follow me on Facebook (HeatherPiersonMusic) or on Twitter (@HeatherPierson) to stay up to date on all the latest developments.   Thank you so much for your continued love and support, and have a joyful and restful Thanksgiving!

Love,
Heather

Hello friends!

It feels like it’s been a while since I last wrote to you.  How have you been?  Doing well, I hope.  Here in the North, it’s truly hard to believe that fall has arrived.  The foliage is  already on spectacular display here.  As for me, I’ve been taking advantage of the recent ease in my schedule to spend time with friends, work on more writing, check out open mics in other towns in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and, of course, I’ve been preparing for the release of The Open Road.   (Hmm, not much of an ease in the schedule now that I read that paragraph over!  I suppose I’ve always been well versed in keeping myself happily busy. 🙂 )

Here’s the upcoming schedule, including a couple of days at the larger-than-life and super fun Fryeburg Fair!

Tuesday, September 25th

Tonight!  I’ll be back in the dining room of the Mount Washington Hotel in lovely Bretton Woods, NH from 6 to 10 p.m.  It’s been a while!

Friday, September 28th

A new venue in the Valley!  I’ll be rockin’ out with my adopted big brother Jeremy Dean and his band The Dean Machine at Wolverine Grill on “The Strip” in North Conway, NH from 7 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, September 29th

Another night with TDM!  This time, we’ll be bringing our blues and rock show back to Tower Hill Tavern in Laconia, NH.  We hit at 7 p.m.

Sunday, September 30th

Shawn and I will be at The Red Parka Pub in downtown Glen, NH from 5 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday, October 2nd

The Open Road will be here!  Oh, and just a quick reminder – there are tickets available for the CD release shows scheduled for next month and you can purchase them right on my homepage at www.heatherpierson.com.

Wednesday, October 3rd

Shawn and I will perform at the Fryeburg Fair on the Gazebo Stage for three sets at 1, 2 and 3 p.m.

Thursday, October 4th

We will bring the duo show back to Andy’s Old Port Pub in Portland, ME, for 6:30-ish p.m. start.

Friday, October 5th

I’ll be back at “home base” at The White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, NH from 6 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, October 6th

A double!  Shawn and I return to the Fryeburg Fair’s Gazebo for three more sets, starting at 9 a.m. (let’s hope it’s warm and sunny like it was last year!) and then I’ll be back at my seat at the piano of the White Mountain Hotel again at 6 p.m.

That’s all for now!  I do hope to see you or hear from you soon.  Thanks, as ever, for your love and support.  I know I always say that but I really and truly mean it from the bottom of my heart.   Take good care!

Love,
Heather

CJ's, Conway Cafe, Davy Sturtevant, Delaney's, Glen, Heather Pierson, Heather Pierson Quartet, Lincoln, Maine, music, New Hampshire, North Conway, Norway, Red Parka Pub, Swamp Dog, The Open Road, Tucker's Music Pub, White Mountain Hotel

Shawn and I had a great time in northern Massachusetts last week.  First, a wonderful and intimate evening of music in Newton Lower Falls with Jim and Kate as our gracious house concert hosts – then, after an inspiring afternoon spent walking in Walden Woods following Thoreau’s mighty footsteps, we had a fun evening in Groton at Main Street Cafe sharing the bill with Blue Taxi!  We made a lot of new friends and I can’t wait to return! Thanks to you all for having, welcoming and listening to us.

It’s hard to believe that summer is starting to wind down now.  When I was a kid, “summer vacation” was this vast expanse of time that never seemed to end… now the summers seem to fly by.  I’m still having a great time, but where indeed does the time go…?

Well, I’ll tell you where some of the time is going, anyway!  Here’s a look at the next week:

Wednesday, August 15th

Tonight!  The quartet plays at Delaney’s Hole In The Wall in North Conway, NH.  9 p.m. start.  The first full band gig since the Gorham jazz show.  I’m psyched!

Friday, August 17th

I’ll be at White Mountain Hotel in North Conway from 6 to 10 p.m.  I really do love that piano in the dining room… come for dinner or just hang out in the tavern for a spell.  I’d love to see you!

Saturday, August 18th

I return to Tucker’s Music Pub in Norway, ME with my friend singer/songwriter Davy Sturtevant for a nice, heartfelt evening of his and my original tunes.  8 p.m. start.

Sunday, August 19th

Another early evening gig with Swamp Dog at Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH!  Last Sunday was a great time – Swamp Dog is one of the most energetic performers I’ve worked with and his quick command of words makes for some really great improvs!  Looking forward to more! 5 to 8 p.m.

Tuesday, August 21st

A new venue for me!  I’ll be playing solo at CJ’s in Lincoln, NH, located at 11 Pollard Road, just off the Kanc.  6 to 9 p.m.

Wednesday, August 22nd

I’ll be the guest host of the festivities at Conway Cafe, next to the Majestic in Conway Village.  Every Wednesday night is Songwriters Showcase at the Cafe, so bring your ax and your tunes and join in the fun!  6 to 8 p.m.

The Open Road is inching its way towards reality and headed for a late October release date.  (Wooo!)  In addition to writing all kinds of new songs on the old Gibson, this is proving to be a very creative time for me!  Hope to see you at a show soon – or just to hear from you!  Drop me a line and let me know how things are with you.   Thanks, as always, for your love and support.

Love,
Heather

Friday, August 10th

Another night in Massachusetts!  Shawn and I will share the bill with local group Blue Taxi at Main Street Cafe in Groton, MA starting at 7 p.m.  Find out more here: http://mainstreetcafegroton.com/

Saturday, August 11th

A double!  First, my big brother Jeremy Dean and I will be performing a duo gig at Almost There in Albany, NH.  Then, I’ll be performing solo that night in the dining room of the White Mountain Hotel, 6 to 10 p.m.

Sunday, August 12th

I’m psyched to be sharing the stage with the one and only Swamp Dog at Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH from 5 to 8 p.m.

Oh, and The Open Road will soon be a reality!  The CDs are being duplicated, the artwork is being finalized, and I’m in the process of planning some CD release shows for it – stay tuned for more details!  (Remember, you can always follow me on Facebook (HeatherPiersonMusic) or on Twitter (@HeatherPierson) to get the continual inside scoop!)  Thanks again for your continued love and support.  You are all awesome!  🙂

Delaney's, Glen, Heather Pierson, Jeremy Dean, McGrath's Tavern, Mount Washington Hotel, New Hampshire, New Orleans, New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp, North Conway, Red Parka Pub, Thornton, Tony's Italian Grille & Pub, White Mountain Hotel

All I can say is… wow!  What an incredible week in New Orleans!  Shawn and I went down last week to participate in the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Camp, held in the heart of the French Quarter, where we had the opportunity to learn from and play with some of the best players in the world — including David Boeddinghaus, Dan Levinson, David Sager, Gerald French and Banu Gibson (just to name a few!).  Just this past Thursday, we performed together at Preservation Hall to a standing room only crowd!  Wow!  A dream come true!  We hit all the hot spots while we were there, soaked in the sounds, the sun, and the unshakeable spirit that permeates the entire city.  What a truly magical place New Orleans.  We also got to connect with and befriend amazing players from all over the world with whom we are already making plans to visit in all corners of the globe.   (You can check out some photos from our trip on my Facebook page: www.facebook.com/HeatherPiersonMusic)

So… after all that excitement, it is nice be back and surrounded by all the familiar comforts of home.  The garden needs some attention, as do lots of other things that were waiting patiently for my return.  Here is what’s happening this week:

Wednesday, June 20th

The quartet will be at Delaney’s in North Conway, NH.  We start at 9 p.m.  There will surely be a trad jazz lilt in my playing – come check it out!

Friday, June 22nd

I’ll be sharing the stage at the Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH with big brother/guitarist-singer extraordinaire Jeremy Dean and his Dean Machine starting at 9 p.m.  JD has been known to tear the roof off with his incredible guitar playing – don’t miss this!

Saturday, June 23rd

I’ll be back in my seat in the Ledges Dining Room of the White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, 6 to 10 p.m.

Tuesday & Wednesday, June 26th & 27th

I’ll be heading up the notch to the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH to play two nights in the dining room, 6 to 10 p.m. both nights.  On Tuesday, I may even pop up at Hoot Night at the Wildcat Tavern in Jackson, NH.  One never knows…

Thursday, June 28th

A double!  First, Shawn and I will be outside in the fresh air performing at the Berlin Farmers Market from 4:30 to 6:30.  Then, we head back down to North Conway to play a quartet gig at McGrath’s Tavern starting at 9 p.m.  Seammus is doing one heck of a nice job over at his tavern.  Go try the amazing food and stick around for the music!

Friday, June 29th

A new venue for me!  The trio will be at Tony’s Italian Grille & Pub, located on Route 3 in Thornton, NH from 7 to 10 p.m.  For directions, give them a shout at (603) 745-3133.

Saturday, June 30th

Another night at White Mountain Hotel, 6 to 10 p.m.

I have some exciting jazz shows planned for July — I’ll send you all the details in the next post.  Until then, thanks so much for your continued love and support — and I hope to see you and hear from you soon!

New Year’s – and then I hit the road!

Arizona, Glen, Heather Pierson, Jeremy Dean, music, New Hampshire, Red Parka Pub

The year is wrapping up and I have an important announcement to make – but first, here’s where I’ll be playing this weekend!

Friday & Saturday, December 30th & 31st

I’ll be rocking out all New Year’s weekend long with The Jeremy Dean Band at The Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH from 9 p.m. til the wee hours.  The line forms early, especially on Saturday night!   There will be much revelry and good-natured tomfoolery to be sure!

Well then… what’s next?

The plan is… on January 1st, Shawn and I are loading up the car and heading out west across the country to the sunny state of Arizona!

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll remember that I visited this beautiful desert state last winter (and have been wanting to return ever since!).  So, I’ve lined up a bunch of gigs, house concerts and other opportunities (both in AZ and in other states – stay tuned!) and will be staying in the Phoenix area with a dear friend (and sharing a bathroom with a four-year-old, which promises to be a very interesting part of this whole adventure!).  I am so fortunate (and so excited!) that my work will be bringing me to new places, new audiences and new friends.  (Don’t worry, friends in the Northeast – I’ll be back by the first week of March!)

Be sure to follow along on my adventures!   You can do that by signing up for my email newsletter at www.heatherpierson.com, subscribing to my blog at heatherpierson.wordpress.com or becoming a fan at www.facebook.com/HeatherPiersonMusic.  (I’ll still be sending out the usual weekly email update – but for the in-depth stories and for the nitty-gritty, I recommend the blog and Facebook.)

Without the love and support of my friends and fans, none of this would be possible!  Thank you so much – and a very Happy New Year to you!  🙂

It’s all about having a good time!

Bela Fleck, Glen, Heather Pierson, Jeremy Dean Band, Maine, music, New Hampshire, North Conway, Red Parka Pub, Stone Mountain Arts Center, White Mountain Hotel

Last Sunday night was a rare treat for me and Shawn – we saw Bela Fleck and the Flecktones at Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, ME. To be able to see that caliber of musicianship in that intimate a setting made for an evening that I’ll be daydreaming about for ages! If you haven’t been to SMAC yet, do yourself a favor and get over to a show at this gem in the woods of western Maine.  You’ll be glad that you did!

This weekend proves to be another fun one indeed. With all the warmth that we’ve been enjoying up here in the northeast, I think everyone has been in a chipper mood lately!  So with that in mind, here’s where I’ll be celebrating life, laughter, music and friendship this weekend (because isn’t it all about having a good time?):

Thursday, November 17th

I’ll be playing solo in the Ledges Dining Room of the White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, NH from 6 to 10 p.m. The Christmas trees are up so that means some of my selections will be decidedly Yuletide.

Friday & Saturday, November 18th & 19th

I’ll be performing with my rockstar brother’s trio – better known as The Jeremy Dean Band – at The Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH. Things get started at 9 p.m. and wrap up sometime after midnight. JD puts on one heck of a show so if you’re in a high decibel, rock-your-socks-off kind of a mood this weekend and you’re close by, the Parka is the place to be!

Tickets are still available for both shows of A Charlie Brown Christmas.  People are getting psyched – including me!  Seating is limited for both shows, so get your tickets as soon as you can!  Just drop me a line for more information.

That’s it for now. Thanks as always for your love and support!

Gotta keep moving to stay warm!

Delaney's, Dogfish Bar and Grille, Glen, Gorham, Heather Pierson, Hoot Night, Jackson, Ledgends Pub, Maine, music, New Hampshire, North Conway, Portland, Red Parka Pub, White Mountain Hotel, Wildcat Tavern

Fall is here  – or, at least, it certainly doesn’t feel like summer anymore!  I actually wore a winter hat a couple of times this past week.  Have I really gotten that wimpy?  Well, as my father used to say, you gotta keep moving to stay warm, and that’s precisely what I intend to do this coming week.  It’s a busy one!  Here goes:

Monday, September 19th

I’ll be hosting open mic at the Red Parka Pub in Glen, NH from 9 p.m. til the cows come home.  Joining me to hold things down will be Shawn Nadeau on the bass and Matt Bownman on the drums.

Tuesday, September 20th

It’s been a dog’s age since I’ve been over to see Jon Sarty and the rest of the gang at Wildcat Tavern in Jackson, NH for Tuesday Night Hoot Night, so I’ll be heading over with my friend Davy Sturtevant to try out some of our tunes.  We’ve been calling ourselves “Stew & Pie”.  Things get going around 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, September 21st

I’ll be playing with two of my favorite people on the planet – that is, with Jeremy Dean on guitar and Shawn Nadeau on bass – at Delaney’s Hole In The Wall in North Conway, NH from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Thursday, September 22nd

Shawn and I host open mic night at Ledgends Pub in Gorham, NH from 8 to 11 p.m.  Last time we were up there, JD and Matty surprised us and came by and we tore the roof off the place!  I wonder what’s in store for this week…?

Friday, September 23rd

It’s an evening of live jazz with yours truly and Shawn on the fretless at Dogfish Bar and Grille, located at 128 Free St. in Portland, ME from 8 to 11 p.m.  It’s also a new venue for us, so we’re pretty psyched!

Saturday, September 24th

I’ll be back at the White Mountain Hotel at Hales Location in North Conway from 6 to 10 p.m.

All that should keep me warm this week, eh?  Hope you’re warm and cozy wherever this finds you!  Thanks for your love and support, and I hope to see you at a show sometime!  🙂
