Winter has been trying to gain a foothold here in the Northeast.  One day, it’s snowing and sleeting, blustery and cold; then the next it’s mild, blue-skied and sunny!  That won’t last long, though – the snow that now caps Mount Washington will soon make its way down into the valley.  Of course, the snow and cold has put me in the right frame of mind for the Charlie Brown Christmas shows, which are starting this coming Sunday!   I am so excited to bring these shows to even more venues this year, and even more psyched to be presenting this music as a quartet – with Shawn Nadeau on bass and Matty Bowman on drums, and with the addition this year of sax man Joe Aliperti.   (Want a taste of last year?  Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m2GqmgFjPE)

Here are the shows:

Sunday, December 9th at 3 p.m. at Medallion Opera House in Gorham, NH

Thursday, December 13th at 8 p.m. at Pitman’s Freight Room in Laconia, NH

Friday, December 14th at 7:30 p.m. at Leura Hill Eastman Performing Arts Center in Fryeburg, ME

Saturday, December 15th at 7 p.m. at The Lily Pad in Cambridge, MA

Sunday, December 16th at 3 p.m. at First Universalist Church in Norway, ME

We have a very special concert planned that will bring you and your family some honest-to-goodness holiday cheer!   Vince Guaraldi’s timeless collection of music has been a joy for us as a quartet to learn, explore and to put our own spin on, and we’re really looking forward to sharing it with you!

Tickets and more information are available at www.heatherpierson.com.  (You can also buy Gorham tickets at White Mountain Cafe in Gorham, and Norway tickets at Books ‘n’ Things in Norway.)

Hope to see and hear from you soon!  Happy Holidays!

Love,
Heather

Wow, what a fantastic night in Eaton last Friday! And boy, was it warm in that church! It felt like a typical night in New Orleans! Thanks to all the brave and supportive souls who came and sweated it out with the quartet and listened to our musical offerings. I can’t wait for the next jazz show this Friday (details below)!

Here’s what else I’m up to for the rest of this month:

Thursday, July 19th

A new venue and a new duo! Alto sax man Joe Aliperti and I will be bringing a jazz and blues duo show to Pitman’s Freight Room in Laconia, NH. A beautiful BYO hall, this place has a gorgeous Steinway grand that I can’t wait to play! $10 cover, doors at 7:00, music at 8:00.

Friday, July 20th

The Heather Pierson Quartet brings the jazz show to Medallion Opera House in Gorham, NH! 7 p.m. start and tickets ($12/$6) are still available at www.heatherpierson.com. Get ’em quick!

Saturday, July 21st

Holy cow, it’s a triple! First, I’ll be doing a short solo set for Art In The Park in Bridgton, ME at 9:30 a.m. Then it’s off to Founders’ Day on Paris Hill in South Paris, ME for an 11:00 a.m. performance with Kristen Short and Rusty Wiltjer. I’ll end the day in North Conway, NH at White Mountain Hotel, 6 to 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 22nd

Shawn and I will perform in another newly formed group – this time, in a trio with Davy Sturtevant at Waterford World’s Fair at 10:30 a.m. When Davy and I play as a duo, we call ourselves “Stew and Pie”. So with Shawn, we’ll be “Stew, Pie and Dough”. Oh, and it’s Shawn’s birthday this day, too! Wooo!

Tuesday, July 24th

I’ll be the featured performer at Jazz Night in the conservatory of the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH. 9 p.m. set. You *have* to come hear this gorgeous Steinway! (Free show, too!)

Wednesday, July 25th

I’ll be back in Bretton Woods again, this time, in the dining room of what I lovingly refer to as “the big hotel in the sky”, 6 to 10 p.m.

Thursday, July 26th

The first of two nights with The Jeremy Dean Band! We hit McGrath’s Tavern in North Conway, NH at 9 p.m. sharp. Face-melting guitar guaranteed!

Friday, July 27th

Second night with JDB and another new venue for me – Tower Hill Tavern in Laconia, NH. Blues blues and more blues! 9 p.m. start.

Saturday, July 28th

Back at “home base” at White Mountain Hotel, 6 to 10 p.m.

Sunday, July 29th

I’ll be one of twenty songwriters chosen to compete in the New England Songwriting Competition at Ossipee Valley Music Festival! Wish me luck – or perhaps I’ll see you at the festival?

Tuesday, July 31st

Kid Dizzy (that’s me on keys and vocals, Jeremy Dean on guitar and vocals, Shawn on bass and Matty Bowman on drums) will give a FREE concert on the Gorham Common in Gorham, NH from 6 to 8 p.m.

There are some really cool things happening in August – I’ll fill you in with the next post! Don’t forget to stay in the loop on Facebook (HeatherPiersonMusic) or with Twitter (@HeatherPierson). Thanks so much for your continued love and support!

Hello friends!

I am really excited to participate in the first annual “Singing Against Homelessness” event at Simple Gifts Coffeehouse in Nashua, NH!  It will begin at 2:00 p.m. this coming Saturday, May 19th at the Coffeehouse, which is located at 58 Lowell St. in Nashua.  There will be many solo performers (including myself) competing before a panel of judges and a voting audience (come on out and vote for me, y’all!) for some very cool prizes, including the chance to work with a Grammy-award winning producer!  The best part?  It’s all for a very worthy cause – all money raised will be donated to the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter.  Hope to see you there in the audience cheering me on!

The rest of the week is looking good, too!  Here’s the scoop:

Wednesday, May 16th

Tonight!  The Heather Pierson Quartet (with Joe Aliperti on sax, Matty Bowman on drums and Shawn Nadeau on bass) will perform at Delaney’s Hole In The Wall in North Conway, NH starting at 9 p.m.  Blues, jazz, funk, soul – yes, we have all that and then some!

Thursday, May 17th

I’ll be returning to Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester, NH with The Jeremy Dean Band to serve up an evening of  face-melting blues!  9 p.m. til the wee hours.

Friday, May 18th

I’ll be back behind the grand piano in the Ledges Dining Room of The White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, NH from 6 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, May 19th

I’ll be “Singing Against Homelessness” in Nashua!   For more information, please visit http://www.uunashua.org/simplegi/.

May is off to a gray start here in New England weather-wise — but that beautiful color of green that is painting the landscape and the tips of all the trees is so incredible!  It’s the same color that has overtaken the kitchen counter here at the house — so many seedlings of tomatoes, cukes, leeks, basil, parsley, dill, lettuce and chard waiting to be planted outside in just a few weeks.  What an amazing time of year!

And busy, too!  Here’s what’s happening in the next couple of weeks:

Saturday, May 5th

Tonight! My dear friend of many, many years, singer/songwriter Nate Towne, will be releasing his second CD, Empty Tables and Chairs, at a very special show at Tucker’s Music Pub in Norway, ME! I’m psyched to be joining him along with some other awesome musicians (including the amazing Rusty Wiltjer on his beautiful handmade drums) as part of the celebration. 8 p.m. start — and no cover charge!

Wednesday, May 9th

I’ll be the guest host and feature at Conway Cafe’s Songwriters Showcase!  Every Wednesday, Conway Cafe, located in the heart of the village of Conway, NH, opens its doors and its stage to songwriters of all stripes to come share their talents.  6 to 8 p.m.  Come early for the buffet, and stay for the great offerings from the wide variety of players who come out to support this great event every week!

Thursday, May 10th

Shawn and I return to Portland, ME to perform at Andy’s Old Port Pub on Commercial St.  Our first outing there was very well received and we’re excited to return!  7 to 10 p.m.

Friday, May 11th

I’ll be at “home base” – playing solo in the Ledges Dining Room of the White Mountain Hotel in North Coanway, NH from 6 to 10 p.m.

Wednesday, May 16th

The Heather Pierson Quartet (with Shawn Nadeau on bass, Matty Bowman on drums and Joe Aliperti on sax) will hit Delaney’s in North Conway, NH from 9 p.m. to midnight.  Bring your dancing shoes!

Thursday, May 17th

I’ll be travelling downstate with The Jeremy Dean Band to play at Strange Brew Tavern in Manchester, NH from 9 p.m. til the wee hours.  Blues, blues and more blues is what we’ll have on tap!

That’s it for now.  I’ll send an update down the road about the rest of my May calendar.  Be sure to connect with me on Twitter (@HeatherPierson) and Facebook (HeatherPiersonMusic) to get the inside, day to day scoop on what’s happening in my world.

Oh, and check this out — it’s the first song from my and Shawn’s recent appearance on Great Falls TV in Auburn, ME!  Enjoy – and thanks much for your love and support!

Hello, December! (Wow, already??)

Almost There, Bretton Woods, Heather Pierson, Hoot Night, Jackson, Jeremy Dean, Jon Sarty, Matty Bowman, McGrath's Tavern, Mount Washington Hotel, music, New Hampshire, North Conway, Shawn Nadeau, Smoke & Water Grill, The Cave, White Mountain Hotel, Wildcat Tavern

As I type this, a new warmth has returned to the Northeast and is quickly melting the snow from the yard and the roof.  I can hear its persistant tap-tap-tap dripping onto the deck.  Who knows how long this temporary reprieve will last… but the skiers and riders and other winter-lovers must not be happy.  Regardless of how one looks at it, it’s still a great day – and the start of another great and busy week!  Here’s what I’m up to:

Monday, November 28th & Wednesday, November 30th

I’ll be performing solo piano in the dining room of the White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, NH from 6 to 10 p.m.

Tuesday, November 29th

I haven’t been to Hoot Night at the Wildcat Tavern in Jackson, NH in a dog’s age.  It’s time!  Hosted by my very talented friend Jon Sarty, the music starts around 8:00-ish.

Thursday, December 1st

The Heather Pierson Trio (with Shawn Nadeau on bass and Matty Bowman on drums) returns to McGrath’s Tavern in North Conway, NH to play from 9 p.m. to sometime after midnight.

Friday, December 2nd

At this point, it’s looking like a double!  First, Jeremy Dean and I will play at Almost There in Albany, NH from 4 to 7 p.m.  Then, we’re scheduled to bring our duo up to The Cave at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH for a 9:30 p.m. start.

Saturday, December 3rd

I will be joined by Shawn Nadeau on bass at Smoke & Water Grill in North Conway, NH for a 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. dinner show.

Tickets are selling like hotcakes for the Charlie Brown Christmas shows in Eaton and Gorham!  Better get them while they last!  Drop me a line if you are interested in reserving two or three or…

Hope you all had a very restful Thanksgiving – and thanks for your continued love and support!

302 West, Heather Pierson, HEPINATO, Hoot Night, Jeremy Dean, Jon Sarty, Ledgends Bar and Grill, Make It Mine, music, New Hampshire, SaVoir Flare, Shawn Nadeau, White Mountain Hotel, Wildcat Tavern

The next week or so is looking to be a fun and busy one indeed!  Here’s the scoop:

Sunday, January 9th

Jeremy Dean and I will be playing at Top Of The Ninth in Fryeburg, ME from 4 to 7 p.m.

Tuesday, January 11th

Have you ever been to Hoot Night at the Wildcat Tavern in Jackson, NH?  If not and you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and get your butt over there!  Jon Sarty hosts this legendary open mic every Tuesday night.  This is the same room where I first met Jeremy and Al and a host of other players.  Everything gets started around 8:00 and the music never stops until the last drink is served.

Thursday, January 13th

I’ll be hosting the open mic at Ledgends Bar and Grill on Main St. in Gorham, NH from  7 to 10 p.m.  Shawn will be with me for this new event at a new venue!  Formerly known as Crabby Jack’s, they’re under new management and have invited Jeremy and I to co-host their new open mic!  The first one on the 6th went very well, JD tells me (I was catching up with friends at the 302 – I hadn’t been there in over a month!).  He and I will be trading off weeks, but I suspect he’s going to show up this Thursday so that we can do some originals.

Friday, January 14th

HEPINATO returns to the stage at 302 West from 8:30 to 11:30.  It’s been a while since Nate and I have played here together, so we’re both really looking forward to it.  It’ll be a great way to spend my birthday, too.  🙂

Saturday, January 15th

I’ll be the featured performer at SaVoir Flare in Berlin, NH.  Located at 52 Main, this cozy little bookstore/coffeehouse/hot spot is very actively promoting local musicians and I’m psyched that I get to be a part of their Rockin’ Saturdays!  Music starts at 1:00 and I’ll be accompanied by my big brother JD and perhaps also by Shawn, although space is limited in the shop and he may be working on the mountain anyhow.

Then, later that night I’ll be playing at the White Mountain Hotel in Hales Location.  6 to 10.  Stop by for a drink and say hello!

Sunday, January 16th

I’m playing a duo gig with JD at Wildcat Tavern from 8 to 11.

Thanks, as always, everyone for your continued support of me and of my music!  Speaking of which – you can now purchase CHEAP (cheaper than iTunes!) MP3s and ringtones from my Reverbnation store!

See you out and about!  Meanwhile, I’m pounding the pavement like crazy and got some good leads on some good gigs in new places.  Plus, I’m planning a road trip to Chicago next month!  Stay tuned…

Ringing in the New Year!

Al Hospers, Heather Pierson, Jeremy Dean, Maine, Make It Mine, music, New Hampshire, Shawn Nadeau, The Potboilers, Top Of The Ninth, White Mountain Hotel, Wildcat Tavern

Hello there!  I know it’s been quite a while since my last post, for which I apologize.  I’ve really needed a vacation to rest up from my amazing vacation in Arizona, and some down time has finally come my way recently.  So here’s a quick post to let you know what’s happening with me the rest of this week:

Thursday, December 30th

The Potboilers Trio (Jeremy Dean, Al Hospers, and myself) are performing at The Wildcat Tavern in lovely downtown Jackson, NH from 8:00 to 11:00.

Friday, December 31st

I’m playing in the lobby of the White Mountain Hotel in North Conway, NH from 7:00 to 9:00 as part of the hotel’s New Year’s Celebration!  If you’d like to make reservations so as not to miss out on the five course meal, champagne toast, live dance music and of course yours truly on the ivories, call 1-800-533-6301.

Saturday, January 1st

It’s a new year already?!  Holy cow!  I’ll be playing for the White Mountain Hotel’s New Year’s Day Brunch from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Sunday, January 2nd

I’ll be playing with bassist Shawn Nadeau at Top Of The Ninth in Fryeburg, ME from 4:00 to 7:00.

Hope all y’all had a great holiday and I hope to see you out and about this weekend!  As of this writing, it’s freezing cold and there’s about 10 inches of snow on the ground.  Tina and I are headed to Portland today to do some food- and other stuff-shopping.

Happy New Year if I don’t see you!

A cancellation, a rare treat, and a front page headline!

Plus, did you see this week’s Bridgton News?  I made the front page!  Follow this link to read the whole article!
